Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
Known as the PKAK for short, this handbook provides pilots with the basic foundational knowledge essential to pilots
Most knowledge required for students as they progress through flight training can be found in the PHAK
Airplane Flying Handbook
The AFH focuses on the piloting aspect of flying
Each maneuver, as well as knowledge, skill, and common errors regarding that maneuver, are listed
The AFH also provides pilots with information on transitioning to other airplanes
Aeronautical Chart Users' Guide
The Chart User's Guide introduces pilots to FAA aeronautical charts, as it includes explanations of symbols and much more.
These charts include: VFR, IFR, Terminal Procedures Publications (TPP), and chart supplements
Aviation Weather Handbook
AWH provides a more in-depth explanation of weather products used in flight planning, aviation weather hazards, weather theory, and much more.
Instrument Flying Handbook
The IFH teaches the fundamentals of controlling an aircraft by reference to instruments (how to fly on instruments)
Instrument Procedures Handbook
The IPH explains how to apply those skills in the IFR system using procedures, charts, and clearances (how to operate under IFR).
The FAR/AIM is one of the most important books an aviator can have! This book has two sections, one being the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and the second being the Aeronautical Information Manual(AIM). The FAR serves as regulations that must be complied with, whilst the AIM provides pilots with guidance and best practices when operating within the National Airspace System.
Below I've listed the PDF for both the FARs and AIM, as well as a link to purchase a paperback version of the FAR/AIM. If you already have your FAR/AIM or are just curious as to how you would use this book, please click on the video for a free guide!
